Canon Collins Social Justice and Engaged Research Scholarship

Social Justice and Engaged Scholarship is an online course intended to introduce progressively-oriented concepts, traditions and practices of scholarship. It consists of six 2-hour online sessions facilitated by Asher Gamedze and Leigh-Ann Naidoo, as well as a one hour orientation session to familiarise participants with the learning platform. Each session features: 1. an interview with a scholar providing a different perspective and practice of engaged scholarship and social justice based on their own work, 2. some prescribed further resources in the form of readings or interviews to expand and locate the featured scholar’s work, and 3. A set of questions to inspire and help participants think through concepts and practices related to the material. Participants are strongly requested and encouraged to watch the interviews and engage with the additional resources prior to the online session.
